MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) - The Winneconne Wolves staged a 4th-quarter comeback to beat Little Chute 28-22 in the WIAA Division 4 state championship game on Thursday night.
“It’s amazing, said Winneconne quarterback Brody Schaffer. ”We fought so hard to come back into this game. Props to Little Chute, they’re a hell of a football team, but we found a way to get it done."
In an back-and-forth affair, Reece Joten scored first to put the Mustangs in front in the 1st quarter 6-0. The Wolves howled back with a touchdown scamper by the state’s top recruit, Schaffer, make it 7-6.
Still in the first quarter, Tyler Hietpas got loose for a 63-yard Little Chute touchdown to make it 14-7. That was the score at halftime.
In the 3rd quarter, Schaffer went up top with a beautiful TD strike to Karter Hawth
