Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], November 21 (ANI): West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Friday said the Supreme Court 's recent order that the courts cannot set timelines for the President and Governors to grant assent to bills passed by the State legislature reinforced the principle of separation of powers in the Indian Constitution , asserting that the Constitution has drawn 'laksham rekhas' for each position".

Speaking to ANI, the West Bengal Governor said, "It has given the message that the Supreme Court of India upholds the separation of powers, as enshrined in the Constitution of India. This does not mean that the Governors can sit idly on the files... The elected Chief Minister is certainly the face of government, not the nominated Governor."
