A woman was detained in Puri after allegedly attempting to cheat a shopkeeper using counterfeit currency. The accused, identified as Meera Saha, reportedly used fake notes of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100 denominations, several of which were later recovered from her bag.
According to reports, Meera Saha visited a shop belonging to Arun Kumar Sahu in Puri’s Matiapada area and bought an ice cream worth Rs 40. She allegedly handed over a Rs 200 counterfeit note and collected Rs 160 as change.
Local residents intervened and detained the woman after the shopkeeper doubted the genuineness of the note. Later, several fake notes of different denominations from her possession. She was subsequently handed over to Kumbharpada police.
