The Indian men’s cricket team will be led by a new captain in the crucial 2nd Test against South Africa to be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium of Guwahati from Saturday. Shubman Gill has been ruled out from the contest, and his deputy, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, will lead the hosts.

“Team India captain Shubman Gill, who suffered a neck injury during the first Test against South Africa, has been ruled out of the second Test in Guwahati," stated BCCI on Friday afternoon.

Gill suffered a neck injury while batting on Day 2 of the first Test at Eden Gardens last week. He retired hurt after facing just three balls in India’s first innings and was stretchered off to a Kolkata hospital.
