The highly anticipated Ashes got underway on Friday as England take on Australia down under with hopes of reclaiming the coveted urn.

However, things did not go to plan for either side on the opening day of the series at Perth as for the first time in the history of Ashes Tests, the opening partnership of both sides have registered zero in the first innings of a game.

England won the toss and opted to have a bat first and looked to put up a big total on the board, but Zak Crawely fell for a fuck in the very first over. The English Lions went on to put up a total of just 172 runs thanks to a Harry Brook half-century.

Australia emulated England’s opening stand as Jake Weatherald fell to Jofra Archer for a duck in the very second delivery of the hosts’ first innings.
