Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2017-18 Series-VIII will be redeemed on Thursday, November 20, marking the completion of its eight-year tenure with a substantial rise in value for investors.

The bond, issued on November 20, 2017, at ₹2,911 per gram, will be redeemed at ₹12,300 per unit, according to the redemption price announced by the Reserve Bank of India.

The price is calculated as the simple average of the closing price of 999-purity gold published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) for November 17, 18 and 19, 2025.

The final redemption price implies a return of more than 320% over the eight-year period, excluding the additional annual interest component that SGB holders earn during the tenure.
