There’s trouble ahead for President Donald Trump’s Republican Party, according to a new poll released Wednesday.
The Marquette Law School survey showed 49% of registered voters expect to support the Democratic candidate in the 2026 midterm elections, while 44% expect to vote for the Republican candidate. The Democrats’ advantage widens among those who say they are certain to vote, with 53% saying they will support the Democrat and 44% saying they will vote for the Republican.
The poll also showed that Democrats have an advantage among independent voters. Thirty-eight percent of independents would vote for a Democratic candidate, while just 17% said they would support a Republican. Another 39% of independents said they would not vote for either party.
