Kolkata: Strong tremors were captured on CCTV and mobile phone cameras after a 5.7-magnitude earthquake in Bangladesh sent shockwaves across West Bengal on Friday morning.
Visuals from Kolkata and several districts of south Bengal showed ceiling fans swaying violently, furniture shaking, and residents rushing out of buildings in panic. Videos from Bangladesh showed similar scenes, with people evacuating homes, offices and educational institutions.
Many were seen standing in open spaces as a safety precaution after the tremors were felt around 10:08 am.
The authorities said no immediate damage or injuries have been reported so far.
