The most recent meeting of Weyburn City Council saw another forward step in the city’s landfill project when a resolution was made regarding an application to Canadian Housing and Infrastructure Fund (CHIF).

Communications coordinator for the City of Weyburn, Paige Tenbult, says the CHIF is a cost-shared program among federal, provincial, and municipal governments supporting rural infrastructure projects.

“The federal government gives the province money and the province kind of trickles that out through the communities that are meeting the requirements of the funding application, as well as ensuring that the projects that we're trying to get are the ones that fit under that funding stream.”
