Local residents keeping an eye on the forecast may have noticed something strange recently. The Weyburn weather station was failing to report any current temperatures, or when it did report, there would be wild inaccuracies, such as a wild temperature swing from 9° to -35° in a single hour.
Environment Canada confirmed this week that the monitoring station had suffered a sensor malfunction, which has since been corrected.
James Colangelo, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said the federal agency relies on the public to help catch these glitches when they happen.
“Tell your friends and family, obviously, that there’s issues and report that to our storm line,” Colangelo said. “We have corrected the issue as far as my knowledge concerns. It looks like the temperatures for the sensor
