A video of a Maharashtrian woman cooking Maggi using an electric kettle inside an AC coach of an Indian Railways train has gone viral on social media.
The clip shows the woman cooking Maggi in the electric kettle plugged into the coach’s power socket that is specifically used as a charging point provided for passengers.
Railway regulars pointed out that these sockets are designed only for low-wattage devices such as mobile chargers, and not high-power appliances like kettles.
Several users warned that using such devices could cause overheating or even a short circuit.
“This is illegal and a serious fire hazard,” a user said.
Another commented, “The amperage is not suitable for high-power appliances. I think it’s a crime.”
