Chennai : Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has stirred the hornet’s nest by calling Sanskrit a “dead language” at an event in Chennai. Furthermore, he added that the BJP-led Centre has allocated Rs 2,500 crore for reviving Sanskrit but has neglected Tamil, for which only Rs 150 crore has been allocated. His remarks have triggered a sharp political clash, with the BJP accusing him of insulting faith, culture and long-held linguistic traditions.
