The Union government on Friday announced the enforcement of the four Labour Codes – the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code, 2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 – with immediate effect. This comes more than five years after the Parliament had cleared the labour codes in 2020.

Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of Labour and Employment of India , in a post on social media platform X, said: “From today, the new labour codes have been implemented in the country.”
