Former Celtic star Liel Abada was prevented from clinching a huge move to Toulouse because French police refused to guarantee his safety, according to an Israeli coach.

The 24-year-old was at Parkhead for three years before he eventually moved to the MLS in March last year in a £8 million deal.

Israeli international Abada's time with the Hoops ended when he faced pressure from his country to leave the club because of Celtic fans' support of Palestine, after the conflict in Gaza.

Ligue 1 side Toulouse were consistently linked with Abada and looked favourites to land the ex-Maccabi Petah Tikva star.

But the move collapsed and they suddenly dropped their interest in the player.
