The dad of an amateur jockey who was injured in a fall which saw an air ambulance called to the racecourse has given an update on his condition. Keiran Burke said his son Louis fractured several vertebrae after falling from their horse Danzini in the opening race at Wincanton on Thursday.
The incident led to the aircraft landing at the track and the following contest, a mares' maiden hurdle, was delayed by 49 minutes. Many industry professionals and fans of the sport had been concerned for amateur rider Louis, who has only had a couple of rides on the National Hunt circuit.
