DUBAI: An IAF Tejas fighter jet crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show. The incident happened Friday afternoon at 2.10 am local time. The incident took place at Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. The Tejas fighter jet fell down and exploded during a flying demonstration. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief.

Tejas is a multi-role fighter aircraft manufactured in India. Designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency and manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Tejas is a light compact aircraft. Former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee gave the name Tejas to this aircraft. The Dubai Air Show was called off following the accident.
