After repeatedly scapegoating immigrants for pretty much everything that ails Quebec, the Legault government now wants to cut social assistance to asylum seekers who can’t find jobs — to “encourage” them to leave the province.
Kick them while they’re down, is more like it.
Immigration Minister Jean-François Roberge says Quebec is “too attractive” for refugees, which is why, I suppose, the CAQ government appears to be working overtime to decrease its attractiveness — for all of us.
Doctors are fleeing , out-of-province students feel unwelcome , some well-integrated immigrants are being shown the door with the removal of the Quebec Experience Program, and asylum seekers — the most vulnerable group of all — are being treated as freeloaders feeding off gullible taxpayers.
