The Prime Minister arrived in South Africa ahead of the G20 leaders’ summit on the weekend, where he was quick to tweet a message highlighting three Australian leaders honoured for fighting for a “free and democractic” nation.
Anthony Albanese is planning to hold important bilateral meetings with the leaders of some of Australia’s key trading partners over the weekend, including India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and European Union President Ursula von der Leyen.
Mr Albanese said the G20 meeting, themed “Solidarity, Equality and Sustainablity”, remained an important gathering, despite the absence of Chinese president Xi Jinping and his United State counterpart President Donald Trump.
“It’s the most important gathering for which Australia is a member,”
