(WKYT) - In the lead-up to America turning 250 years old, we are looking back every day at ‘This Day In History.’

On this date in 1931, Universal Pictures released the original “Frankenstein.”

Starring Boris Karloff as the iconic monster, this film became a horror classic.

The image of the hulking creature with neck bolts is still recognizable today and the legend still continues today.

This month, Netflix unleashed a new vision of Mary Shelley’s tale.

Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro reimagines the classic story, starring Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the creature.
