SAN JOSE — Two tech companies have each decided to chop dozens of jobs in the South Bay in the latest sign that the key industry sector continues to seek ways to operate more efficiently.
Lumileds and Couchbase have revealed plans to eliminate a combined total of 108 jobs, all in San Jose, according to official WARN notices the tech companies have sent to the state Employment Development Department.
The job cuts follow on the heels of wide-ranging recent layoffs in the Bay Area by several tech companies.
Here are some of the details of the staffing reductions disclosed by the two companies:
• Lumileds has decided to eliminate 60 jobs at 370 West Trimble Road in North San Jose, the company reported. Lumileds, an advanced manufacturing company, produces LEDs, or light-emitting diodes. LE
