A couple of Brantford city councillors want to know what, if anything, can be done to improve accessible parking.
Linda Hunt and Dan McCreary have called for a review of legislation that covers accessible parking.
“One of the issues that we have, especially in large commercial parking lots, is the ratio of accessible parking spots,” Hunt, who lives with multiple sclerosis and uses a power wheelchair for mobility, said. “When I go to one of our large commercial parking lots I’m usually parked out in the back 40 taking up two spots on an angle because I need to deploy a ramp.
“I think it’s important for council to understand the parameters around accessible parking, permits, regulations and what we may be able to do about the ratio.”
