Lane Kiffin is right where he wants to be: The center of attention. Rumors are swirling rampantly over the future of the Ole Miss coach, with both LSU and Florida batting their eyelashes at him while the Rebels faithful hopes he sticks around for the College Football Playoff.
It's unclear what Kiffin prioritizes most in his immediate coaching future, but if it's money, Baton Rouge could be the destination. The Advocate's Wilson Alexander reported Thursday that LSU is preparing a "substantial" offer for Kiffin, possibly over $13 million annually. It would make him one of the two highest-paid coaches in the country, as only his old pal Kirby Smart is above that pay mark at $13,282,580.
Kiffin is certainly worth the eye-popping price. He's led Ole Miss to heights it's scarcely seen in program history, winning 10-plus games in four of the last five seasons while extracting the best out of quarterbacks Matt Corral, Jaxson Dart and, most recently, Trinidad Chambliss.
With Kiffin reportedly set to meet with Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter on Friday, a decision could be upon us. Get your popcorn ready.
