The New York Yankees' outfielder Trent Grisham accepted the qualifying offer, leading many fans to believe the Yankees will be unable to spend as freely as they would like this offseason.
Grisham had a great season, and if he can replicate what he did last season, the Yankees will have no problems with him being back. However, paying Grisham could cap how much the Yankees spend in other spots. The team is still interested in re-signing Cody Bellinger, which should cost them plenty. Now, with Grisham back in the Bronx, bringing Bellinger back would create problems for Jasson Domínguez and Spencer Jones' playing time.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman also noted that the team is interested in fortifying the rotation with Carlos Rodón and Gerrit Cole slated to miss the start of the year
