Ahead of the civic body polls in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Friday levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission, saying the newly released voters’ lists were filled with errors that raised doubts about the fairness of the upcoming polls.
Addressing a press conference at Shiv Sena Bhavan in Mumbai , Aaditya, who is also the head of Yuva Sena, said his party had been reviewing sections of the draft rolls and has found what he described as “unacceptable and deliberate” mistakes.
Aaditya claimed there were duplicate and even triplicate entries for the same voter, names of people who do not exist, and cases where 40 to 50 voters were registered at cramped addresses that could not possibly house so many people.
