Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has assigned portfolios to the 26 ministers in his newly expanded cabinet, following his swearing-in for a record tenth term. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), now the largest party in the assembly with 89 seats, has received the most significant share of ministries. Notably, the crucial Home Department, which Kumar held for many years, has been handed over to Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Chaudhary, who previously managed the Finance and Commercial Tax departments, will now oversee law enforcement and public safety. The second Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, will handle the Revenue, Land Reforms, and Mining portfolios, which he also managed in the previous NDA government.
Other key appointments include Mangal Pandey, who retains the Health Ministry and adds the Law Department to his responsibilities. Nitin Naveen will lead the Road Construction, Urban Development, and Housing departments. Dilip Jaiswal, the State BJP President, has been assigned the Industries Department.
