Indian batting coach Sitanshu Kotak feels that the criticism directed towards Gautam Gambhir after the loss to South Africa in Kolkata on Sunday is unfair and done by people with vested interests.

The Men in Blue have lost four out of the eight games in the longest format that they have played in their backyard under Gambhir's watch.

"'Gautam Gambhir, Gautam Gambhir' (criticism) is being done. I am saying this because I am a staff and I feel bad. That's not the way," Kotak said on Thursday ahead of the second Test starting on Saturday.

Kotak suspected that there are hidden agendas behind the onslaught aimed at Gambhir.

"Maybe some people individually have agendas. Good luck to them, but it is very bad," the former Saurashtra left hander said.
