A warning has been issued to anyone clearing snow or ice off their driveways this week following days of ice, snow and subzero temperatures.
Met Office yellow and amber weather warnings for snow and ice as well as freezing conditions have brought an Arctic blast to the UK over the past few days, and while this weekend won’t be quite as treacherous, it’s clear that winter is here to stay and there’s going to be plenty more icy and snowy days to come.
When it comes to clearing snow from your driveway or the paths outside your house, the Department of Transport advice says: “You can clear snow and ice from pavements yourself. It’s unlikely that you’ll be sued or held responsible if someone is injured on a path or pavement if you’ve cleared it carefully.”
