S&P/TSX composite up in late-morning trading, U.S. stocks also higher

TORONTO — Canada's main stock index rose in late-morning trading, helped by strength in the telecommunication and base metal sectors, while U.S. stock markets also climbed. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 82.23 points at 29,988.78.
