Households are being urged to use washing up liquid on their driveways this week after heavy snow and freezing ice has caused problems up and down the country following a series of Met Office weather warnings.
If you wake up to a frozen over driveway gleaming with black ice, frost or snow that threatens to make life difficult - either to walk on or to drive over - there is a quick and cheap way to tackle it - using just a humble bottle of washing up liquid and some rubbing alcohol.
According to cleaning experts , these two inexpensive and easy to find ingredients are the perfect way to both melt the ice and stop it from refreezing.
