The commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP is pushing back against recent criticism regarding police service levels, pointing to a sharp rise in violent crime and a lack of resources for complex social issues. In a statement issued Thursday, Assistant Commissioner Robin McNeil addressed what he called public dialogue about the RCMP’s service in the province. While acknowledging that communities are frustrated with violence and addictions, McNeil highlighted the increasing strain on frontline officers.
