The stories of how the Blue Jays thoroughly scouted, diligently pursued and triumphantly signed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as a teenager growing up — and smashing baseballs in a prolific manner — in the Dominican Republic are the stuff of legend with the franchise, one of the great home-grown success stories in the sport.

And now one of the best hitters in the game and a Dominican compatriot, Juan Soto, has his own colourful take of how Guerrero performed back in their homeland while both were young teens.

In a video released by MLB, Mets slugger Soto recalls an occasion when he, Guerrero and Fernando Tatis Jr. all were scheduled to hit for scouts at an academy in the Dominican run by the Washington Nationals.
