Allegheny County will receive nearly $11 million from the state to fund dozens of projects aimed at promoting economic development throughout the area, the county announced Friday.
The funding will come from the state Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund (GEDTF) after the Commonwealth Financing Authority met on Tuesday and awarded the county a total of $10,944,244 for 92 different initiatives.
This includes $500,000 for improvement to Kids Kingdom at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, $205,000 to update the Blueberry Hill Park in Franklin Park, and $213,000 for a new ambulance for the Shaler Hampton EMS.
The funding will also be used to upgrade security cameras for the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children in Oakland, resurface roads in Oakdale, replace waterlines in Neville
