BAY CITY, MI – Bay City is moving forward with the demolition of multiple properties along Columbus Avenue to make way for a multi-million-dollar housing development.
Officials have said the development will provide affordable housing for local seniors, people with disabilities and low-income residents.
Among the sites being demolished for the project are the former Bay County YMCA, located at 111 N. Madison Ave., and the old Bay County Market, located at 108 Adams St. The proposed address for the development is 501 Columbus Ave.
The physical deconstruction of the site of the former Bay County Market is officially underway, Bay City Housing Commission CEO Bill Phillips said this week.
After demolishing the Bay County Market property, crews will move on to the demolition of the site o
