The Bushland volleyball team was defeated in the state championship match Thursday, falling 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 at the hands of Goliad at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas.
This year marked the second in a row that the two teams squared off for the UIL Class 3A Division I title match after the Lady Falcons knocked off the Tigerettes in four sets in 2024. Bushland and Goliad also met for the 2020 state championship — five years ago to the day — with the Lady Falcons also coming out on top in that match.
Jason Culpepper's team finishes the 2025 campaign with a 40-9 overall mark after making another run to Garland. The Lady Falcons won the District 1-3A Division I title again in 2025 before defeating Littlefield, Denver City, Jim Ned, Peaster and Ponder to reach the state title.
