LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The woman accused of hitting her significant other with a car and killing him has taken a plea deal.
Cindy Martinez, 24, was charged with failing to stop and render aid during a serious injury or death. As part of the plea deal, she pled no contest to one misdemeanor count of false reporting and was found guilty.
Lincoln Police said Martinez turned herself into the Lancaster County Jail two days after 22-year-old Alejandro Murillo was killed near North 37th Street and Cornhusker Highway on May 14, 2024.
Officers were called to the area around 8:30 p.m. after a man was found bleeding on the ground. Murillo was taken to Bryan West where he died an hour later.
