SPRINGFIELD — For the 32nd year, Rock 102 will host its Mayflower Marathon to benefit Springfield’s Open Pantry.

The event returns to MGM Springfield on Monday for the three days leading up to Thanksgiving. Morning hosts Michael “Bax” Baxendale and Steve Nagle will broadcast for 52 hours, encouraging listeners to donate nonperishable food items to support Open Pantry Community Services of Springfield.

About 54% of Hampden County residents grapple with food insecurity, which is the highest percentage of any county in the entire state, according to a study by Massachusetts General Brigham and the Greater Boston Food Bank .

By contrast, the state average for food insecurity was reported at 37%.
