Sofia Vergara has joined the cast of “Thumb,” a dark comedy from director Daina Oniunas-Pusić. The Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated actress is part of an ensemble that includes such previously announced cast members as Milly Alcock , Awkwafina and Kate McKinnon.

Vergara is best known for her breakout role as Gloria, the second wife of a wealthy businessman, in “Modern Family.” She also was in the voice cast of “Despicable Me 4” and most recently starred as a drug lord in the Netflix crime drama “Griselda,” which she also executive produced. Vergara earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for “Griselda” and was an Emmy nominee for “Modern Family.” Her film credits include “Hot Pursuit,” “The Smurfs,” “Koati,” “The Emoji Movie,” “Chasing Papi” and “Chef.”
