MURRAY, Ky. (WSIL) -- K9 Bonnie of the Murray Police Department is set to receive a new bullet and stab protective vest. The donation comes from Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., a non-profit organization.

The vest, sponsored by Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., will feature the embroidery "Honoring those who served and sacrificed." Delivery is anticipated within ten weeks.

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. has supplied more than 6,225 vests to K9s in all 50 states. Each vest is U.S. made, custom fitted, and National Institute of Justice certified.

The program supports U.S. law enforcement dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed. K9s with expired vests are also eligible.
