SAN FRANCISCO — Riordan quarterback Michael Mitchell Jr. has decommitted from Vanderbilt, according to reports from The Tennessean and 247 Sports.
The news comes hours before Riordan plays in one of the most important games in school history when the San Francisco school takes on league rival Serra for the Central Coast Section Open Division championship.
Mitchell was Vanderbilt’s first class of 2026 commit, according to The Tennessean. The Tennessean also reported that the rising Southeastern Conference university is pursuing local five-star QB Jared Curtis, who is currently committed to the University of Georgia.
Mitchell has had a spectacular year thus far. The 5-foot-10 QB has thrown for 3,218 yards and 43 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 69.8% through 11 games – all wins
