Darren O'Dea has ruled himself out of becoming Swansea City's new head coach following the sacking of Alan Sheehan.

Sheehan was relieved of his duties in SA1 at the start of the international break, with Hammarby boss Kim Hellberg the initial target to succeed the Irishman in the Swansea .com Stadium dugout.

Middlesbrough, however, swooped in ahead of Swansea, with the Swede set to become their new boss imminently.

Landore chiefs then pivoted their interest to Marítimo man Vítor Matos, who was formerly part of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool staff.

In the meantime, Swansea confirmed O'Dea would take charge of affairs at Ashton Gate this weekend when the Swans take on Bristol City in the lunchtime kick-off.
