SHELBYVILLE, Ill. — William Null of Shelbyville is the latest candidate for Governor of Michigan in 2026, according to campaign finance filings shared by Detroit News reporter Craig Mauger .
In 2023, a jury acquitted Null, his twin brother Michael Null and Eric Molitor of charges related to a kidnapping plot against Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. They were found not guilty of providing support for a terrorist act and a weapon charge. The were the final three defendants of 14 men who were initially charged in the plot. Nine of the defendants were convicted.
Null filed his paperwork to make the run for governor earlier this week. He ran for Orangeville Township Trustee in 2024, losing in the Republican Primary with only 13.86% of the vote.
