The Jets will have to fly on without the services of their all-star goalie.

On Friday, the club announced that Connor Hellebuyck will undergo surgery for a lingering knee issue.

“This has been nagging him since training camp,” Jets head coach Scott Arniel said. “It’s something we’ve kind of known about. He was trying to play through it. It would be good days, bad days, just something that, timing’s right, get it done now.”

As Arniel mentioned, the team wanted to avoid surgery by pursuing rest and preventive maintenance, but the situation is untenable now. Arniel says the surgery will take place on Saturday.
