NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Tyson Foods announced plans to close one of its largest beef-processing plants in Nebraska.

Employees in Lexington were notified via a letter that News 2 obtained on Friday that the plant is planning to cease certain operations at its complex and that positions will be eliminated as part of a mass layoff.

The Lexington plant currently employs close to 3,000 workers.

Job operations will cease on or about January 20, 2026.

Tyson Foods and the city administrator in Lexington did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
