Detroit – The Tigers and utility player Matt Vierling agreed to terms Friday on a one-year deal worth $3.255 million.
Vierling, 29, was one of Detroit's 12 arbitration-eligible players. Friday was the deadline for the club to tender contracts to those players.
A vital piece of the Tigers’ puzzle in 2024, both with his versatility on the field and leadership in the clubhouse, Vierling was limited to just 31 games last year. He started the season on the injured list with a rotator cuff strain and ended the season with an oblique strain.
