TOWN OF POTSDAM, New York (WWNY) - The Norwood Brass Firemen have a new set of wheels to get them where they need to go.
“Pretty cool, new home of the Norwood Brass Firemen on wheels,” said Joshua LaFave.
It’s new, at least new to them.
“This is an automatic transmission instead of trying to listen to the back of the bus engine to shift it into gear,” said LaFave.
To go from place to place, performing for crowds and parades, the Norwood Brass Firemen bought a 2010 coach bus. It’s bigger, safer, and more reliable than their current bus, a 1961 model with more than a million miles.
“At some point, I think the odometer just stopped working, but the bus kept running,” said LaFave.
The new bus comes with more storage for instruments, electrical outlets, and even air conditioning.
