Jess Wilson has established an impressive lead over Premier Jacinta Allan in the polls just days after usurping Victorian Liberal leader Brad Battin.
Earlier this week a snap spill ended Mr Battin's leadership only 11 months after he won the job, as MPs across the party told him he no longer held their confidence.
Hours later, Ms Wilson ascended as leader of the party without content, becoming the first woman to hold the position in the Victorian branch's history.
The latest Newspoll, conducted exclusively by The Australian between Tuesday and Thursday after Ms Wilson replaced Mr Battin, has given the new Liberal leader a comfortable advantage of 47-33 over Ms Allan as preferred premier.
