A Lake County judge ordered Cody Fields to wear a SCRAM ankle monitor Friday – to detect his drinking – after he was arrested in October with a gun following a bar fight.
Fields, 28, of Cedar Lake, is on bond after he was charged Aug. 20 with a drunken head-on crash on the 2100 block of W. 169th Avenue in Lowell in February. The other driver survived.
Deputy Prosecutor Jacob Brandewie filed to revoke his bond – i.e., put him back in jail — after the October arrest.
Judge Natalie Bokota rejected the request. The two new criminal cases he faced were misdemeanors.
Instead, she issued a court order barring him from drinking, requiring an alcohol abuse course with random screenings, and the SCRAM monitor.
His next hearing is Jan. 14.
