A man was killed after he was struck by a train in Ravenna during the afternoon Nov. 21.

Ravenna Police Capt. Dustin Svab said a westbound CSX train struck the man between South Chestnut and Diamond streets at 2:51 p.m.

Svab said no information about the victim is being released at this time, other than he was an adult male.

"We have identified the person," said Svab. "We are holding off on releasing it until the family's been notified, the next of kin."

Svab said it is unknown why the man was walking on the tracks. As of about 4:20 p.m., South Chestnut remained blocked until CSX investigators could arrive and gather information for their own internal investigation, said Svab.

Svab said he did not have an estimate for when the train would be moved and the roadreopened.
