MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — A man is facing charges after he crashed while driving in the wrong direction on Interstate 270 near Clarksburg, bringing traffic to a halt on Friday evening.
According to Montgomery County Department of Police spokesperson Shiera Goff, Maryland State Patrol and Frederick officers began pursuing a driver on Friday afternoon, though it is unclear as to why. Montgomery County officers got involved once the pursuit crossed into the county.
Goff says the driver was going the wrong direction on I-270 when they collided with another car.
After the crash, the driver got out while holding a child, who had been in the car with them.
Police contacted negotiators to try to resolve the situation and later tased the suspect while he held the child.
