NORRISTOWN – The Municipality of Norristown advertised its 2026 proposed budget earlier this week as officials proposed raising property taxes in order to balance the budget.
Norristown Finance Director Kathy Pfister presented the first reading of the municipality’s 2026 budget ordinance during a Nov. 18 Norristown Municipal Council work session. If approved next month, the millage rate would increase from 18.25 to 19.25 mills.

The action would generate an additional $887,062, according to Pfister, who noted the average single unit dwelling would see an increase of $69.43 per year. She added the municipality has roughly 76 percent of property owners listed as “single units.”
